  • Dropped kerb on Mayfield Road at KB

Created by FrenchyF // 1 thread

Travelling north on Mayfield Road here, it is not always easy to get into the right hand lane (to turn right or go straight on; left hand lane is left turn only). A dropped kerb would allow cyclists to make use of the toucan crossing instead.

Although there is a dropped kerb here, it is only usable if no one is parked in the disabled car parking spaces. A dropped kerb should be added on the southern edge of the car park, where it won't be blocked by cars parking.

  • Dropped Kerb/DYL on NEPN Access

Created by Rob Earl // 0 threads

Better access to NEPN than through St Mark's Park which involves an uphill, narrowing road approaching a blind bridge. Requires stopping in traffic to negotiate parked cars and kerb.

A dropped kerb where the path meets the pavement at the Glebe would be very handy here for people heading to the school on bike via the path. It's the only off-road route for cycling to the school.

Make dropped kerb where the footpath from Ravenswood Avenue meets the Old Dalkeith Rd. This would make it possible for cyclists on Old Dalkeith Rd to dismount here and walk over to Ravenswood Av.

Dropped kerb at the end of the cycle lane southbound, so that people on bikes can get off and push.

At rush hour it is usually impossible to merge into and keep up with the motor traffic uphills, many cyclists dismount here and walk to the pedestrian crossing.

  • Footpath and dropped kerb needed

Created by Stephan Matthiesen // 7 threads

Need dropped kerb and a few metres of footpath to connect the existing footpath, so that people can cross at the existing traffic island to get to the road leading to the recycling centre.

This is a very important pedestrian and cycle connection between the Inch and Craigmillar Castle Park. You can see from the desire line that many people walk across there already.

The high kerb makes it impossible to use for people with bicycles, wheelchairs, buggies etc. They are forced to travel along the busy Old Dalkeith Road rather than cross it directly.
